I made a video of the construction of one of the chairs. Hope you find it useful!

Making rustic furniture

I like to think that everything is different in the world of rustic furniture making. I feel there are no generalities, assumptions, rules and logic. For other crafts, you first have to gain knowledge, buy stuff and practice a lot. Rustic furniture makers just start. From day one you are the expert; your first project can be the most beautiful you will ever make. Experience doesn't get you anywhere. When I start a new chair, I try to forget all the previous chairs I've made. I want to forget what chairs look like, so that I can start from scratch. With zero, one, two or a hundred legs. A project can be ramshackle, half finished, awkward, crooked. Yet it can be perfect. It counts. You don't have to measure up to someone else. One work may be more beautiful than another, but in principle never better; that's a big difference. I find that equality a comforting and reassuring thought, which is why I always dare to start a new project. Each new chair amazes me again, I continue to marvel at the charm of rustic furniture.
