In addition to 'normal' rustic furniture such as chairs and tables, I also try to realize some more unlikely projects. I often ask myself: what other role can branches play? Can I turn them into flowers? Into the flames of a fire? Into chess pieces? A rocket? A trophy? Even a suitcase?
It turns out that all of that is possible, and I love to push the limits of the branches, and my own limits.

music stand

The music stand (sorry for the bad photo) was the first time I worked with branches as a building material, twenty years ago now. In this case: a tiny birch tree in my garden, just 5 cm (2 inch) in diameter at the ground. The entire sapling was used for the stand, and everything just fell into place. Within no time, I assembled the stand, and I was thrilled for weeks! To me, it was nothing less than magic. I could not understand how this beautiful piece of work could emerge from that little tree, almost by itself.
